Children’s Ministry
Have you ever thought that church was just place for adults? No Way!
Church should be a place for families…including the kids! Here at Mt. Calvary we try to make church a welcoming place for kids. We want a child to be able to say, “Hey, that’s my church. I like it there. Would you like to come to church with me sometime?”
We want the children to be involved in the life of the church, and growing in their faith. At Mt. Calvary, you might see children helping out the ushers, playing in the bell choir, or sharing their artwork for the bulletin cover. You may hear of their latest mission project or see evidence of their community service. You may hear rooms full of active learners as the children gather for Sunday School.

Sunday School Sunday mornings from 9-10am in Schroeder Hall.
Playtime With Jesus
(6mo-3 years) A loosely-structured class where children learn about Jesus, sing songs, and play. Taking into account the child’s attention span and developmental level, the teacher will engage the children with a short lesson, either individually or as a group. The concepts are simple and repeated often throughout the year for greater retention.
BUZZ
(3 years- 5th grade) Mt. Calvary uses the Group curriculum, BUZZ, for our preschool and grade school level classes. This curriculum is very interactive, engaging and fun! It takes a key concept, reinforces it with a Bible lesson and activities, and then helps the kids apply it to their lives. Each quarter brings a new theme and new activities, so it never gets boring.
Confirmation
(6th & 7th grade) Led by Rev. Dr. Leo Sanchez, these young people look at the doctrines of the church, discuss why they are important and what they mean for their life today. This class will be on break from June-August.
Summer Sunday School
During the summer, we take a break from our regular curriculum to try something new. This gives variety to the program, provides flexibility for summer travelers, and gives the regular Sunday School teachers a break. For the summer of 2010 we will be traveling through Psalm 23- The Lord is my Shepherd.
Special Events
At various times throughout the year, Mt. Calvary hosts special events for the congregation and the community, which provide opportunities for families to interact together in fun and meaningful ways. Such events include the Advent Family Fair, All-Around Easter and Trunk or Treat. At other times, we offer events primarily for the children, like Art Camp, SportsLife Camp, and Vacation Bible School. Volunteers are the heart of each of these events. It is a great way to get involved.
